Schools: There are enough numbers of elementary schools in this area which include Catholic elementary schools, high schools along with public libraries. Centennial college campus is just southeast of 401 and Markham road. Seneca College's Newham campus is west of the community along Finch Ave.
Recreation: Rough Park which is considered as Toronto's largest protected natural area is situated at the east of the community with a campground just north of Kingston Road. This campground touches the north side of 401 has natural area and a baseball diamond. There are also paved recreational trails along Highland Creek in the southwest of the community.
Shopping: There are numerous small shopping stores as well as shopping centers in Old Kingston road. Abbey Lane Shopping Center situated in Rylander Boulevard, north west of Sheppard & 401, is a famous shopping centre where peoples can buy everything as per their needs. There is another shopping mall, Morningside Mall. This is situated to the west at Morningside and Lawrence.

If you are interested in Motor racing, you will have great access to highway 401 via Morning side, Sheppard Ave, Port Union Road or Meadowvale. Some commuters give preference to take Kingston Road west to Lakeshore Boulevard east.
